New Generation Metal Finch Sock – Yellow replacement parts:

Droll Yankees
This bird feeder brings in a remarkably diverse collection of birds especially woodpeckers. It doesn't need filling often, I think because of the density of the peanuts. The squirrels can't seem to extract the peanuts through the mesh and in my case, except one persistent squirrel, they seem to have given up. You've got to love this company. They really stand behind their products.

Please! For the sake of the birds, keep your feeder clean! Dirty feeders spread disease. Soak all parts in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Use a Droll Yankees Bird Feeder Brush to brush away grime inside the tube.

Made from very tough materials! However, there is a weak point near the bottom of the steel mesh where a big hole has been punched through the mesh to accommodate a metal tube which secures the mesh to the bottom piece. The hole is too close to the edge of the mesh–1 strand away!–facilitating that strand to break. At that point the hole is open and the bottom is no longer secured to the rest of the feeder.

I have no idea what Therese is talking about and have used this feeder for about a year and a half now. The bottom hole is used for the separately bought catch tray. I love this feeder and my various finches love it. I buy the seed in bulk at a local feed store in 50lb bags. I bought this at first to feed a house Finch family that was attached nest wise to the house.

All this time later I’m addicted to birds and have a separated wild bird feeder and a Droll Yankee Humming bird feeder to make it a birds paradise in the back yard. Custom made a bird bath with solar pump out of an old 1990’s metal wheel barrel too.

The price on this has gone up a bit but thank Trump for that. I say get this durable and easy to clean with hot water and vinegar Finch feeder. I mix boiling water and room temperature with vinegar and use a food service bucket with a sponge to clean the feeder at least once a week.

The only issue is the paint is starting to wear on the top metal lid due to birds landing and standing on it. I’ll use some touch up paint after summer is over. Love watching baby finches land on the catch plate and cry for their parents to feed them. Great feeder and I recommend .
