We have used three H-8 Hummingbird Feeders for a lot longer than the Three Year Warranty. Maybe twenty years. Two cost $29.95 each and the next two were $34.99 all purchased in the Denver, Colorado area. Green by Nature (2) and Wild Bird Center (2).

These handle high wind situations, easily. What does happen are the red flowers would shrink and blow out. The earliest had them glued from the factory. Another long term was the rod would break through the plastic at the bottom and the feeder would leak. I glued a nickel over it with superglue… it held for years. The flowers were replaced years ago by Droll Yankee, but eventually I would glue a one cent coin over the hole without flower pedals to keep bees from entering.

The high elevation in Colorado turned the clear plastic to a light brown and cloudy. The Hummingbirds did not seem to mind. With the differences in the older fit of flower pedals and the leaking bottom I removed the remaining three feeders. One was blown away in Colorado during a Hail Storm.

These are the finest Hummingbird Feeders compared to the simpler hanging ‘tube feeders’. The three I still have are no longer 100% functional… after TWENTY Years. Later this Spring… we will buy what ever H-8 feeders are now being made.

The price may seem high… but they last and last. The cartons are like new and easy to transport each time we moved. Love these feeders. Enjoy the Hummingbirds in Colorado and now the deserts of Boulder City, Nevada.

I plan to take a new one along on our Boondocking trips in our shiny Airstream trailer. The Hummingbirds in New Mexico campsites are attracted to our trailer’s tail lights… now we will provide a Free Lunch as well.

I also had a problem with the tilting of the feeder and therefore nectar leaking out. The brass rod does not sit correctly in base. I figured out just not to screw it in all the way is better but still tilted. Also did not get Port Brush with my order. Expected something better for the cost.

Followup to previous review. The tilt problem can be corrected by not screwing in the brass rod all the way. There is sufficient tolerance in the threads to allow the feeder to hang straight if the rod is not tight.

I received my Happy Eight 2 Hummingbird Feeder (H8-2) yesterday. As I was assembling the feeder i noticed that the brass hanger rod was poorly aligned with the body of the feeder. At first I thought that the rod was bent, but it was perfectly straight. The problem seems to be that the metal insert into which the rod screws is at a slight angle to the body of the feeder. This is causing a tilt so that the feeder drips out of the feeder ports when full. The top cap thus also does not sit flush on the top of the feeder, which may potentially allow insect access to the nectar. I will probably end up having to mount the feeder on a pole into the threads on the base to eliminate the tilt problem.

A excellent hummingbird feeder, plenty of room for everyone to take a drink. The first one I had I dropped and it leaked it was 14 years old and would have still keep going strong.
