More information about versatile feeders like this one: Bird feeders that offer different foods allow for a variety of different visitors to that feeder. Consider changing your food offerings throughout the year to see which birds you can attract. Some food suggestions are suet balls, sunflower seed, Nyjer seed, fresh fruit, mealworms, safflower seed, white proso millet and premium seed mixes.

Feeding wild birds is one of the best ways to impact the world around you. The simple act of putting out a bird feeder and keeping it clean and full can greatly improve the chances that birds and their offspring will survive. Many backyard bird watchers believe that birds only benefit from feeders during certain times of the year. However, birds actually have a year-round need for reliable, steady food sources.

Please! For the sake of the birds, keep your feeder clean! Dirty feeders spread disease. Soak all parts in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Use a Droll Yankees Bird Feeder Brush to brush away grime inside the tube.

I have 2 of these. They are cheap and durable. I think I paid $8 at FosterSmith. I have had them knocked down on to cement a few times by squirrels and they have not cracked. Yes the rubber O ring will dry and break over time. I just used electrical tape after that for a stopper.
