Droll Yankees
Looking at my 2 Yankee Droll A6's we purchased 20+ years ago. They have hung in trees in PA, VA, and currently in SC... Cardinals, finches and now mocking birds love to feed from them

compatible seed trays for the Classic bird feeder series

A-6RP Classic Sunflower bird Feeder has the same dependability, same quality, but is NEW AGAIN after 40 years with the Ring Pull Advantage.

Simply pull the ring to disassemble the feeder in seconds. No tools needed. The metal seed ports protect the 16 inch tube against squirrel damage. An easy to lift cap allows for quick and easy removal of all parts. This feeder features its original silver color and has a one pound seed capacity. It can be hung or pole mounted. Backed by Droll Yankees Lifetime Warranty against squirrel damage and proudly made in USA.

Birds that use this feeder: Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Goldfinches, Chickadees, Grosbeaks, Purple Finches and more!

Feeding Sunflower Seeds: A favorite of almost every backyard feeder bird. They have easy to crack, thin shells and can be offered in a wide variety of feeder types, like platform, tube, and hopper feeders. These seeds also have a high fat content that is perfect for giving birds energy all year long, especially in winter.

Feeding wild birds is one of the best ways to impact the world around you. The simple act of putting out a bird feeder and keeping it clean and full can greatly improve the chances that birds and their offspring will survive. Many backyard bird watchers believe that birds only benefit from feeders during certain times of the year. However, birds actually have a year-round need for reliable, steady food sources.

Please! For the sake of the birds, keep your feeder clean! Dirty feeders spread disease. Soak all parts in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Use a Droll Yankees Bird Feeder Brush to brush away grime inside the tube.

I have bought yankee droll for years and the only time I had one destroyed was because of a bear. Easy to clean too. Love em

      Hello Keeta,
Thank you for contacting Droll Yankees. Having bears at your feeders can ultimately be dangerous if not addressed before the bears become accustomed to a regular meal. I like to refer to this article (http://birding.about.com/od/Care/a/Protect-Bird-Feeders-From-Bears.htm) when addressing this issue. I would recommend reading that article to see if there is a way to help your particular issue. Some highlights from the article are:

Mount Feeders Properly: Bears will climb poles to reach feeders or may lean on poles to knock feeders down. A sturdy metal pole with the feeder 10-12 feet high is best to discourage bears, but the pole should be secure enough in the ground that it cannot be knocked over or easily uprooted.

Alternative Foods: Bears are most attracted to suet and seed feeders, but will also sip at leaking nectar feeders or tray feeders where fruit is offered. Instead of offering these treats to backyard birds, offer bitter-tasting safflower seed or Nyjer® and plant natural sources of food such as seed-bearing flowers, berry-producing bushes or flowers for hummingbirds.

Eliminate Other Foods: Bears wandering into backyards for birdseed may find other easy foods that tempt them to stay. Remove outdoor pet foods, keep trash secure, tend compost piles properly to eliminate odors and speed decomposition, and keep barbecue grills clean so there are no other smells or foods that could lure bears.

Lights On: Install motion sensor-operated lights of the highest safe wattage aimed at the bird feeders. Bears will trigger the lights when they approach and will not like the disruption to their vision. Most bears will then head for darker areas away from the feeders where they feel more secure.

I hope this information helps you! If you have any additional questions or concerns, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-352-9164 and any one of our Customer Service Reps will be happy to assist you. Our hours are 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Thurs & 7:30 am – 2 pm Fri (EST).

Best tube feeder on the market, and beats the other brands by a mile. I have a very old A-6 Classic, as well as a newer Ring Pull in both the sunflower and thistle models, and love all of them. The ring pull makes it soooo much easier to clean and then reassemble. Nostalgia aside, I’d recommend the ring pull. Design is amazing and quality is top notch.

After years of bird feeding, this is my absolute favorite bird feeder for sturdiness, accessibility for lots of birds, and cleanability. My first one is over 20 years old, traveled 4000 miles through 2 moves, and set such a high bar for other bird feeders I tried that none of them still live in my house or even my garage. You know I don’t like it if I don’t stick it in the garage “just in case”. LOL I bought a second one a few years ago, and am asking for two more for my birthday. Four feeders, total, and a couple of suet feeders will be close to perfect this winter!
